A Liberty Grand Wedding with Old-World Charm and a Dash of Modern Magic

Some weddings just have it—a mix of timeless style, a dash of drama, and lots of love. This Liberty Grand wedding at the Artifacts Room had all that and more. From an intimate indoor ceremony to a reception dripping with candlelit glamour, everything about it was pure magic.

The Venue: Liberty Grand Artifacts RoomLiberty Grand is the sort of venue that doesn't just hold a wedding—it creates one. The Artifacts Room's exposed brick, wooden beams, and theatrical lighting made for an impossibly atmospheric setting for both ceremony and reception. The bride and groom exchanged "I dos" in the same room where they later danced the night away, giving the whole day a snug, cohesive feel.

Photography: A Challenge Worth Taking Liberty Grand is stunning, but the Artifacts Room also presents a specific challenge to photography—low light. The dim atmosphere is perfect for a romantic celebration but requires a bit of creative lighting magic to adequately record the moment.

Cue: my faithful off-camera flash setup. By placing flashes around the room, I was able to balance the warm light of the room with just enough crisp light to cover the couple and their guests without losing the venue's signature dark appeal.

Portraits Around the GroundsAvoiding the grand staircase with the iconic red carpet, we utilized Liberty Grand's other stunning spots for portraits. The elegant stone archways, ivy-covered walls, and private hallways provided a royal, intimate setting for the couple's portraits. At sunset, we took full advantage of the courtyard, where soft evening light infused their portraits with a romantic, otherworldly glow. And when night fell? That's when the magic really started. Due to some inventive off-camera flash, we frolicked in light and shadows, rendering the courtyard a cinematic backdrop that felt straight out of a classic romance.

The Reception: A Candlelit DreamInside, the Artifacts Room was transformed into an enchanted reception space. The warm glow of hundreds of candles flickered against the exposed brick walls, as guests dined and celebrated under glittering chandeliers. With moving speeches and a crowded dance floor, the night was full of energy and emotion—everything a wedding reception should be.

Photographing this Liberty Grand wedding was an adventure in artistry and technical finesse. Balancing the venue’s moody lighting with well-placed flashes allowed me to create images that feel both cinematic and true to the couple’s love story. If you’re looking for a venue with character, history, and endless photo opportunities, Liberty Grand’s Artifacts Room is a dream.
